1. Stay on your own path

“You’ll never get to where you’re going if you’re lost on someone else’s path.”

Do not compare your chapter 1 to someone else’s chapter 20. When Dulce Candy felt discouraged because she felt that everyone seemed to be doing better than her, her mum put things into perspective by telling her: “You need to slow down, Dulce. Take a step back and keep to your own path.” Dulce Candy adds: “Striving to be better is a great thing, but when you don’t allow yourself to be satisfied or when you constantly compare yourself to others, you’ll never get to actually enjoy the sweet life.”

2. Celebrate small accomplishments in a BIG way

Keep track of your wins. Dulce Candy suggests to have a document on hand (physical piece of paper or save one on your computer/cellphone) where you keep a list of all your milestones. She includes the date, people involved and the way she felt.

3. Goals setting in bite-size pieces

Success does not happen overnight. So, instead of only looking at the big picture, you need to break it down. Dulce Candy writes what she wants to accomplish in bold letters on a clean sheet of paper. Then, she writes down 5 things that will help her to make that goal a reality.

4. Say yes to things that scare you

The bigger the fear, the bigger the opportunity for growth!

5. Don’t take anything personally

You can’t control what other people say about you but you can control how you respond. Turn mean messages into constructive criticism. Instead of taking critiques personally think about where there is room for improvment. As well as that, keep in mind not everyone will accept you and that’s OKAY.

6. Respond to meanness with kindness

More often than not, if someone calls you ugly, it has a lot more to do with them that it does with you. And, you also never know what people are going through and responding with negativity won’t make you feel any better. By responding kindly, you put the control firmly back in your hands and turn a nasty situation into an opportunity to make someone feel better.

7. Stop beating yourself up over your imperfections

You may have gorgeous blue eyes, but you can’t stop thinking about how you wish your thighs were slimmer. Or maybe you have a beautiful smile but all you can think of is your problematic skin. Instead of getting hung up on your imperfections start focusing on your best attributes because NOBODY is perfect.

8. Be your own best friend

“Most of us would never talk to someone else the way we talk to ourselves. Would you every tell your best friend she was ugly or stupid or not good enough? Of course NOT, because you love her. So why do you say the same things to yourself? Once you change the conversation, you’ll change how you see yourself and the world.”

Inspirierende Lektionen aus Dulce Candy’s Buch ‘The Sweet Life’

3. Ziele in kleine Schritte aufteilen
