In this post you will hear about the benefits of oil pulling & how to do it and some tips what you can do while your oil pulling. Beforehand some of the benefits that I found while doing my research: teeth got so much whiter, no more bleeding or inflammed gums, no more plaque, helped with psoriasis on scalp, brown spots on hands and arms are disappearing…

1. What is Oil Pulling 

Oil pulling is an ancient Ayurvedic holistic dental care method.

2. What it does

When you mix oil and water they separate. But when you mix oil and oil they combine. Microorganisms in our mouth are covered in a lipid/fat and when we oil pull the oil is basically acting like a big magnet and attaching to all those microorganisms and we are able to spit those bacteria and germs out. Therefore, oil pulling is basically spitting out toxins.

3. When to do it

Best to do it in the morning because bacteria level is the highest in your mouth. As soon as you eat something you are swallowing a lot of the bacteria. When we oil pull, we are reducing the bacteria in our mouth so it’s taking a little off the strain of the immune system and the immune system is able to focus on other areas of our body.

In fact, brushing only reaches about 60% of the tooth surface!

Everybody will benefit from doing it. If you are still skeptical, at least give it a try.

6. What oils to use (best to use organic oils!)

  • Olive (ability to fight inflammation)
  • Coconut (anti-inflammatory and antibacterial)
  • Sesame oil (used originally)

How to do it

# 1– Do it right in the morning (empty stomach). You can do it every day, but 2-3 times a week is also very beneficial for your dental care.

# 2– Use about 1 tbs of coconut oil (you can also use other oils). Swish the oil around so that every bit of your mouth is covered. Continue for 5-15 minutes.

! Do not swallow or gargle the oil.

# 3– After, spit it out in the garbage (on a piece of paper), rinse your mouth with water and brush your teeth.

! Do not spit it out in the toilet or sink to avoid it to clog your pipes over time.

How often

You can do it every day or as often as you can.

I know, the thought of doing it about 15 minutes sounds like a lot. But when you think about it, there is still a lot that you can do during this time. You can’t speak but other than that you can do almost everything.

Was ist Öl ziehen

Vor dem Zähneputzen den Mund erst mal mit Öl spülen ist eine unkomplizierte Art der Entgiftung.

Was es macht

Wenn man Öl und Wasser mischt, trennt es sich. Aber wenn man Öl mit Öl mischt, verbindet es sich. Die Mikroorganismen in unserem Mund sind mit Fett bedeckt und wenn wir Öl ziehen, wirkt das Öl im Grunde wie ein großer Magnet und verbindet die Mikroorganismen. Somit können wir Bakterien und Keime durch das Öl ziehen ausspucken.

Wenn wir Öl ziehen, reduzieren wir die Bakterien in unserem Mund, so dass das Immunsystem ein wenig entlastet wird und das Immunsystem sich auf andere Bereiche unseres Körpers konzentrieren kann.

Wann Öl ziehen

Am besten morgens da dann der Bakteriengehalt im Mund am höchsten ist. Öl ziehen vor dem Zähneputzen und bevor man etwas isst/trinkt. Sobald man etwas z.B. isst, schluckt man die Bakterien, denn Essen und Getränke können die angesammelten Bakterien „mitnehmen“.

Warum Öl ziehen

Durch das Zähneputzen wird nur ca. 60% der Zahnoberfläche erreicht!

Was sind die Vorteile von Öl ziehen

  • Macht die Zähne weiß
  • Hilft gegen Zahnfleischbluten & Mundgeruch
  • Verringert Zahnbelag
  • Bekämpft Karies
  • Festigt lockere Zähne
  • Lindert Kopfschmerzen
  • …und es ist sehr einfach und billig.

Welche Öle verwenden (am besten Bio-Öle verwenden!)

  • Olivenöl
  • Sonnenblumenöl
  • Kaltgepresstes Kokosöl
  • Sesamöl (ursprünglich verwendet)

Wie es geht

  1. Gleich in der Früh 1 EL Öl vor Essen/Trinken/Zähneputzen ziehen.
  2. Stoppuhr stellen und für 5-15 Minuten das Öl im Mund hin und her spülen. Zwischendurch kann man eine kurze Pause einlegen, damit sich das Öl im Mund verteilen kann.
  3. Auf keinem Fall schlucken oder Kopf zum Gurgeln in den Nacken legen!
  4. Nach Ablauf der Zeit das Öl ausspucken auf ein Papiertuch in den Müll. Nicht in die Toilette/Waschbecken spucken, um zu vermeiden, dass der Abfluss nach einer Zeit verstopft wird.
  5. Anschließend Mund mit Wasser ausspülen und Zähne putzen.

Wie oft

Jeden Tag oder so oft es möglich ist.
