How to get your life together with the GYST method

Take your organization to the next level with this easy hack!

I first heard about this from the amazing YouTuber Christie Swadling about the GYST method and the importance of having a GYST day. Apparently this term is originally created by the also great YouTuber Kalyn Nicholson.

GYST Method: GYST stands for „get your sh*t together“

3 Different ways to implement the GYST method in your life

1) GYST day

The idea behind the GYST day is to have a day (mostly Sundays) where you get it all together, do all the tasks that you don’t have the time for during the week, or basically just procrastinate – or tasks that prepare you for the following week such as meal planning, etc.

Although I do not personally have an official weekly GYST day I really love the idea behind it. And try to do it whenever I have the time.

1. Plan the day before of what you want to tackle that day
2. Set some time aside – best way start in the morning
3. Think about rewarding yourself when you’re finished

Ideas for what you can do on a GYST day

• Cleaning
• Organizing
• Decluttering
• Prepping such as meals, outfits, plan your week
• Selfcare (bath, masks)

2) GYST list

Another way I implemented this GYST idea is to have an ongoing GYST list – a list where I write all the tasks that I want to accomplish when I have time. For me it’s such a great tool especially for days when I have extra time and don’t know what to do…The goal with my GYST list is to basically get at least one task done during the weekend from this list.

Keep a list of:

• Little tasks that you keep putting off
• Or don’t seem to have enough time for

3) GYST binder #adulting

This is to make your life easier and keep you organized by having everything that you need throughout the year in one spot. Brainstorm and think about the categories that you need throughout the year.

Here are some ideas of what to add to your GYST binder:

• Master grocery list
• Yearly overview of important appointments like check-ups
• Healthy recipes inspiration (don’t let them get lost on your phone)
• GYST list
• Yearly/monthly/weekly budget
• Memorabilia that you want to keep such as cards, movie tickets, …
• Visio board
• Workout plans
• Meal plans
• Cleaning routine
• Appointments you need to remember that year
• Bucket list
• Receipts that you might need for your taxes
• Packing checklist
• Morning and evening routine/checklist
• Beauty Routine

• Binder
• Dividers
• Folder envelopes

GYST Methode: Wie du mit dieser einfachen Methode dein Leben vereinfachst und organisierst

Es geht hierbei um die GYST Methode ( = get your sh*t together). Diese wurde von der Youtuberin Kalyn Nicholson ins Leben gerufen, die viele tolle Videos zu diesem Thema hat.

Grundsätzlich geht es bei dieser Methode darum einen GYST Tag (meistens Sonntag) zu haben, an dem man alle Aufgaben erledigt für die man sonst keine Zeit oder oder diese immer aufschiebt, aber auch Aufgaben, die einen auf die neue Woche vorbereiten sollen z.B. Essensplanung, Einkaufsliste etc.

Neben dem GYST Tag, gibt es verschiedene Möglichkeiten die GYST Methode in sein Leben zu integrieren:

1) GYST Liste

Erstelle eine fortlaufende GYST-Liste zu erstellen – eine Liste, in der du alle Aufgaben aufschreibst, die du ausführen möchtest, wenn du Zeit hast. Für mich ist es ein großartiges Tool, besonders für Tage, an denen ich zusätzlich Zeit habe und nicht so recht weiß, was ich tun soll. Das Ziel der GYST-Liste ist es, aus dieser Liste mindestens eine Aufgabe am Wochenende zu erledigen.

Führe eine Liste von:

– Kleinen Aufgaben, die du immer wieder aufschiebst

– Oder nicht genug Zeit dafür unter der Woche hast

2) GYST Tag

1. Überlege am Vortag, was du an diesem Tag in Angriff nehmen möchtest
2. Plane dir Zeit dafür ein – beginne am besten am Morgen
3. Überlege dir eine Belohnung, die du dir danach gönnst

Ideen für das, was Sie an einem GYST-Tag tun können

• Wohnung sauber machen
• Ausmisten
• Organisieren
• Vorbereitungen für die neue Woche z.B. Mahlzeiten/Outfits oder Woche planen
• Selfcare z.B. heißes Bad, Gesichtsmaske, Haarkur

3) GYST Ordner

Dieser Ordner hat das Ziele alle Unterlagen, die du in regelmäßigen Abständen benötigst oder Informationen, die du brauchst, aufzubewahren. Es empfiehlt sich diesen Ordner für ein Jahr zu führen – und regelmäßig updaten.

Überlege dir, was für Kategorien benötigst du bzw. möchtest du besser organisieren:

Ein paar Ideen was man in diesen Ordner alles reinpacken kann:

• Master Einkaufsliste
• Jährliche Übersicht über Termine wie z.B. Vorsorge, Zahnarzt etc.
• Inspiration für gesunde Rezepte (damit diese nicht als Screenshots verloren gehen)
• GYST-Liste
• Jahres- / Monats- / Wochenbudget
• Erinnerungen, die du aufbewahren möchten, wie Karten, Kinokarten,…
• dein Visionboard mit deinen Zielen und Träumen
• Liste mit deinen Zielen
• Trainingspläne
• Speisepläne
• Wöchentliche Saubermachroutine
• Morgenroutine bzw. Checkliste
• Abendroutine bzw. Checkliste
• Beauty Routine
• Unterlagen, die du möglicherweise für deine Steuern benötigen (Rechnungen)
• Packliste

Alles was du brauchst:

• Ordner
• Trennblätter
• Klarsichtsfolien
